Kris Alingod – AHN Contributor Chicago, IL, United States (AHN) – Full body scans at O’Hare International Airport began on Monday as the Transportation Security Administration continues to slowly introduce the machines to airline travelers. Officials say scans are safe and non-intrusive, but advocacy groups are concerned about the graphic images the technology produces as well as effects of radiation. A whole body imaging machine is in use at the United Airlines terminal at O’Hare. Passengers can opt out of the scan and choose a pat-down.
